Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Associated Precious Metals

FTI

The Fairtrade label works with marginalized producers in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector in developing countries to improve livelihoods and create sustainable development opportunities through trade. This is achieved through working with artisanal and small-scale mining organizations to achieve compliance with the Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Associated Precious Metals, independent third-party verification, chain of custody audits, minimum price guarantees and Fairtrade premium payments.

The overall objective of the Fairtrade Standard, which is based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, is to create opportunities for artisanal and small-scale miners and their communities by promoting the formalization of the artisanal and small-scale mining sector through establishing membership-based artisanal and small-scale mining organizations.
